To market To market to Buy a ...........

Boy do we love the Farmers Market in this area. We are extremely lucky to have so many to choose from. My eldest daughter G has asked me to crochet her up a Market Bag. She just happened to have some yarn from a project that she no longer had an interest in making. She also just happened across the pattern that she want me to use. How convenient for her.  Just kidding ( I think)

The pattern that she choose is at  LION BRAND They have 9 patterns to choose from, this one is the 4 ball Market Bag. The yarn that G brought to me was 2 100% acrylic yarns in Loops and Threads - Impeccable in True Gray and Black. The pattern calls for a cotton so I made a few adjustment with the hook size and # of rows to make it look right.

I think it turned out very well and quite sturdy. (It is holding two full 2 litter bottles of  tonic). G was pleased with it and has already requested a few more. She will be picking up some cotton in more cheery colors. (Thank You) But I do believe that she will have to wait in line, for I have already decided that I would like to sport around a couple of my own to the local Farmers Market.

So what do you think? What do you look for in a Market bag? Do you have a favorite pattern you would like to share? Until next time I'd like to say Thank You for stopping by.

Summers Bounty

My first attempt at gardening was this year. I have always claimed to have a black thumb when it came to caring for my garden and reaping any rewards. Sure I have planted tomato plants a few other veggies to later watch them shrivel up and become nothing but a brown mass of wasted potential.

BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!
I made a promise to myself this was the year that we are going to eat out of the garden. And boy did we.

Tomatoes Tomatoes and more Tomatoes The kids ate the like they were candy, sooo sweet and juicy.

Three Zucchini plants and you have enough for the year if you shred and freeze what you can't eat. This family kept up with the harvest just fine. Will have to plant 4 next year.

My Lemon Cucumbers didn't seem to reach there full potential, but boy were they good! I think a little research and it will be all good for next year.

YUM need I say more? Okay I did take the picture a little early I also added Fresh Basil and salt and pepper and called it a Kiss Salad . (Keep it simple silly. Why what were you thinking?)

Rosemary and Basil I have tried to grow these herbs multiple times to no avail, Until this year yes! And my Rosemary bush has taken on multiple layering so I'm sure to have it next year.

As you can see I feel that I made good on the self promise and did a pretty great job of it seeings how we are still eating off all the herbs and veggies well into fall.(except the cucumbers)

So now the big question.... Do I sit on my laurels the rest of fall and pat myself on the back for a job well done, all winter long?
OR
Do I plant a fall winter garden?
Let me know what you think. Leave a comment to tell me what can growing the fall/winter here in Western Washington.
